Welcome to Ichigo. A collaboration of Japanese expertise and Kiwi know-how, we grow premium fresh New Zealand strawberries all year round in our state-of-the-art glasshouses in Clive, Hawke’s Bay.
Our strawberries are grown in above-ground planters with smart fertigation and in a special-recipe growing mix. The berries are helped along their way by bumblebees that are free to roam and pollinate the crop.
Our glasshouses are fully automated and we regulate the environment to keep the berries happy. We harvest by hand in early mornings and pack gently on site.
Meet Takushi and Mayumi.
Japanese couple Takushi and Mayumi Matsunaga are happy to call Hawke’s Bay home. Takushi is a representative of Tatsumi NZ and helps to bring their innovative growing ideas to New Zealand, along with his love for strawberries. The couple moved to Hawke's Bay in 2020 to set up the Ichigo glasshouses that replicate a similar growing operation in Japan.
